Maryann Bright

It's last years photo, I admit it.
I think that's okay.
I am not perfect.
Life goes on.

May your Christmas be merry and bright...
we don't need it white though, that's okay.

May your 2014 be filled with joy, peace and laughter, and good favor.

Ten Percent

You should read this if you homeschool your kids.

And if you don't homeschool, you should still read this.

Our liberties as parents, the actualy rights on how to educate our children are being threatened.

Based on a parent that took their child out of public school to hide the abuse going on, and that child ended up dead. They weren't homeschooling the child, just hiding him.

And super shocking? At least 10% of school age children have been raped, sexually molested or harassed by TEACHERS...IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS...yet that doesn't seem to be a problem.

Please read this well written article.

Let It Snow, and then that's enough...

Weather stations reported it was coming. They kept changing when it would get here, and as they did the elevation for snow kept getting lower and lower.

And then, Friday evening, it started.

It was lovely.
Thankfully my husband made it home from a gig before the roads were too horrible, and by morning in our area the roads were clear.

Everything is completely icy now due to temperatures in the 20's, but that's okay. I am delighted, it is lovely. It was just enough to feel like Christmas is really nearly here, instead of the unusually warm weather we were having. Some might complain, but not me.

Of course, I don't live where you get trapped in your house and have several feet of snow for several months every year, that would be different.

Allergic to ALL OF IT

When my extended family gets together it is fun, it can be loud, there is a lot of laughter, and really complicated food nowadays.
Between us there is at least one person, if not more, allergic to or strongly intolerant of:
Eggs, dairy, nuts, strawberries, mustard, soy, fish/shellfish. grapes and grape products: wine & basalmic vinegar, all citrus, bananas, avocado, kiwi, all peppers(except black peppercorn), this includes all bell peppers too, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, paprika, chili powder, huckleberries, goji berries, pimentos and a few stray items.

There is some dietary resrictions for non-allergic, but reactionary reasons, conditions, or to be kind to the heart : low saturated fats, little beef, low fats over all, lower sugar, fiber, not a lot of fiber and some need a higher balance and some a lower balance of protein to carbs.

Then there are a few items that some people simply do not like, like brussel sprouts, cucumber, coconut and walnuts. But they can pick around them.

And let me tell you, soy and surprisingly paprika show up everywhere. There is paprika in many Mayonnaise and mustard jars.

Do you face allergies too?

Here is a link for some yummy sounding gluten free and dairy free options from Jessica at Keeper Of The Home. She also gives hints for serving people with allergies in your home.
