The Big Three-OH!

I made it. Blogged everyday for a month, sure. Blogged everyday for a month in a succession of growing thankful lists, whew!

I am a little brain fogged today. Been staying up to late trying to own Photo Shop 5. My husband is nearly done with yet another album, and I am in charge of the Album art...except I have never used this software before. Ye-haw, ain't this fun?!

Anyway...
I am grateful:
1. It's November 30th. Which means I don't have to blog tomorrow if I find myself out of time.
2. Christmas is coming, in 25 days.
3. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!! Love lights!
4. Our annual Christmas concert is in 12 days. It will benefit not only our Fire Department this year, but some needy families as well. Great music, great cause.
5. Christmas music is already being added into the play lists on my favorite radio stations.
6. There is still time to earn money so I can buy presents for people I love.
7. I am thankful for people that know more than me. Oh yes, and I rely on these people being willing to help me when I cry out..."You're my only hope".
8. Thankful for grace when I am not doing my best to show God's love.
9. Thankful for leaves fluttering to the ground outside like rain, so beautiful.
10. Thankful for everyone of you reading this list! Seriously, I am! May God bless you richly this very day!
11. New jobs for people I know. It's been a really great month around here of people finding work.
12. I am grateful for the new dryer we will someday have. It's damp around here, things don't dry on the line anymore.
13. I am grateful for my car, even though the check engine light came back on after the repair that was supposed to make it smog checkable. Today is the last day on our temp permit for it. Somehow God will show His love and mercy regarding this. It's been a long, long ordeal with this car. But I have learned things from the experience.
14. Thankful for a church home that is filled with loving people.
15. Thankful that God is our provider.
16. Our healer
17. Our protector...especially when people make off handed remarks that feel threatening.
18. Thankful for apricot almond bread. Just made some, yummy.
19. Grateful for other peoples sweet babies.
20. Thankful tonight when the large containers for food donations for the homeless and the needy were filled up by the end of service.
21. Thankful for friends that get me, even the weird stuff, (Medical oddity twin powers activate!)
22. Grateful that I WILL make photoshop work for me....oh yes, I will.
23. SO thankful that the roof is staying firmly in place during this wind storm.
24. Thankful for mild temperatures, sure it gets cold, but daytime is very nice still.
25. Thankful we have a place to call home.
26. Grateful for the gift of reading.
27. I thank God that I can grow and learn from my mistakes.
28. And that He forgets them when I ask for forgiveness.
29. Thankful He loves me.
30. Grateful I have broken through walls and am willing to take risks loving people.

SO, after all of this. Can you tell me, what are you grateful for?

Twenty-nine Steps

I am thankful for the journey my life has been thus far. Even the hard stuff.

Thankful...

1. I was born.
2. I had siblings.
3. My parents loved each other.
4. I was taken care of.
5. We moved while I was in 3rd grade.
6. I was punched in the back by an angry student when I was in 7th grade.
7. For being hit off my bike by a car.
8. For being stuck in a sand storm in the middle of a lake with our boat weighed down by camping gear, the motor was flooded by water and we rowed to shore. My dad engineered a shelter and we ate sandy Spaghetti-O's , but I learned I could trust I would be taken care of and protected, even when things were really scary, and really bad.
9. Cracked Radius.
10. Cracked Ulna a year later.
11. Dislocated Patella the following year, yeah, call me graceful.
12. First loves.
13. First heartbreaks.
14. BIG mistakes.
15. Friends that stood by me during those big mistakes, not because they approved, but because they loved me.
16. Standing up and making things better.
17. Finishing college.
18. Having my backpack stolen.
19. Meeting my future husband. 12 1/2 years before we got married. No, we didn't date that whole time.
20. Having my daughters.
21. Moving away from family.
22. Moving back near family.
23. Moving away again...not because of them, but because of where we eventually ended up.
24. Buying houses (one at a time)
25. Selling houses.
26. Losing a house. Painful, and embarrassing, but I can empathize with so very many people now. And we learned how to fight hard for something, and we learned to let go. Both are very important lessons.
27. Trusting my husband.
28. Standing firm when things got hard. Trusting it would all work out. (it is)
29. For challenging myself to this month long thankful party.

All events build who you are and who might become. Bad things can be released, and good things held on to. One doesn't need to stay under a bad umbrella. seriously. Bad things happen, to everyone. Learn, grow, move on. Sometimes it takes more time than others, but that's okay. It's a journey...

27 Promises

This is partially re-post from last year. I still stand behind being thankful for every single one of these promises...

I have mentioned that I am thankful for the Bible. God's word is powerful and true, and is like armor for those that love him. I am so very thankful for the promises He lays out in the Bible as well, including but not limited to the following.

1. I (Jesus) have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV

2.
  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.Psalm 23:5-6 NIV

6.When you go through deep waters of great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through the rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord , your God....  Isiah 43:2-3 NLT

7. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go bear fruit, fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. John 15:16 NIV

Five To Go...

Wait, I mean 120 to go...

I've been trying to communicate thankfulness for some time now. How it's good for you heart, both literally and figuratively. Now scientists have caught up with the notion, imagine that. I've noticed something this month while making my lists...I am in a better mood, it is easier for me to be in a good mood. I listen to the things I am saying to other people, and it is more positive, and up lifting, and hopeful. I am not perfect, I have just noticed a change, and it was an easy change! I didn't even notice, I didn't have to work at it, or strive. May I suggest trying it for yourself?

Today....thankful for:

Happy Thanksgiving, AKA 24

My parents are here for Thanksgiving. I love it when people visit me!I love my parents, so this is really working out well. I will miss other family members who are not in attendance, but I will see some at Christmas, and maybe some in January...who knows!

Things got a little weird around here, but I am still thankful.

1. Thankful that we have a good dentist.
2. Thankful that my daughter could be seen right away by said fabulous dentist. Antibiotics were prescribed and she will need more work, pray for her. It is dipping into her college funds for next year and she feel panicked.
3. I know God will provide.
4. Thankful that said fabulous dentist was able to get us into a oral surgeon for my dad. I said it got weird around here. 2 Cracked and broken teeth finally had to come out. (After 20 years of care and trying to save them...not bad really)
5. Thankful the Oral surgeon had an appointment and is good at what he does.
6. My dad is thankful for soft food options tomorrow.
7. I am thankful for special ice packs we already had on hand to ice his face.
8. Thankful that Target wasn't too crowded and that the pharmacy wasn't too bad.
9. I am so thankful to be cooking side by side with my mom.
10. Thankful that our Bowen therapist can see both my parents before they leave. They will have a better drive home this way.
11. Peaking of driving, the weather was clear and they could take the shorter and much more scenic route to my house!
12. Even though rain is coming tomorrow, the weather should be clear enough to go home the short route too.
13. Thankful for my husbands dedication to getting the next CD done.
14. Thankful for the mild temperatures this week. Chilly, sure, but not bone numbing.
15. Thankful for good movies to enjoy together.
16. SO very thankful for pain relievers.
17. I am thankful that my friend Nancy had a little break from her life down here and went to Oregon for a visit. She looks rested and ready to tackle some stuff, including landing a new job she is interviewing for.
18. Thankful for my friends, many of them far away now, all over the place. They mean so very much to me.
19. I am thankful for the maturity I am seeing in my daughters. It's beautiful.
20. My parents both have iphones, they are in their 70's, they not only have them, but they know how to use them. I am so thankful!
21. I am thankful that my car's check engine light is on, again, before it could be smogged......I am thankful for the gift this car is to me, I am thankful that I can drive it for now, and all the time I have driven it. I will remain thankful, no matter what happens with it, even if I have to not have it anymore (if it is not fixable). I am grateful that people love me enough to want to give to me. I will learn something from this adventure with this car. I will somehow bless someone else because of it. I must keep my eyes on Jesus on this one folks, I MUST stay thankful that I have this car and have had this car. Miracles will happen.
22. I am thankful for laughter. Deep, and wonderful.
23. We had dinner out with another couple recently. A new couple. They are friends to us for a long time individually but now they are a couple as well. It was a really good time. We all get along, and out humor is well suited for each other. There is a reason the male friend is considered a brother to my husband. I am thankful for the time we shared.
24. Today. I am thankful, that hopefully, people that never stop and consider all they DO have might just stop and be thankful today. Even if it's just for 20 seconds before the meal. I am thankful for the pause button of thankfulness.

Happy Thanksgiving.
May your grateful heart be with you all year long.

22 Moments of Thankfulness

I still have responses from other people coming in...it's so wonderful!
I love hearing people's hearts. It was interesting when I asked in person, they would look at me funny, and repeat the question with an "Oh!". We shouldn't be walking around shocked to think about it, we should be walking around always thinking about how thankful we are to God...

1. Every breath I take and every heartbeat of my daughter.
2. God's faithfulness, even when I deserve nothing.
3. God spared my life 12 years ago.
4. Healthy family.
5. My family and God's freedom and provision!
6. For friends like you! (cool!)
7. That so many men and women offer to serve our country to protect all of the rights that I so easily take for granted.
8. I am thankful for a husband who treats me with love and gentleness, for a church family who loves and cares for me,for food in my belly and clothes on my back. Mostly I am thankful for life and thankful to have a mighty God who is personal and gives me a new day everyday.
9. Music, beautiful voices and dancing.
10. I am thankful for God answering my prayers that my husband would be the leader in our home and family, (didn't know it would require me to submit, but I thank God for that as well).
11. God's grace, freely given.
12. Treasured friends, near and far.
13. The peace that passes understanding.
14. I am thankful for my wife for giving me another chance in our marriage. She is everything to me!I love her with all my heart.
15. I am thankful for many things, especially reconnecting with old friends.
16. My family and church family!
17. I am thankful that God let my dad and mom live and healed them.
18. I am thankful for God who sent his one and only son to die for my sins.
19. I am thankful to be alive and that I have an awesome family who loves me.
20. I am thankful that Jesus gave me a good daddy and mommy and brothers and a sister.
21. I am thankful for my family.
22. I am tankful for my fammy. {translation, I am thankful for my family}

One of the above people almost didn't make it into the world. His mother was told he would be stillborn, they gave her the option to abort. She didn't. He was the 13th baby to ever receive an inter-utero blood transfusion. He helped pave the way for the "Rh factor" shot that mothers now receive if they give birth to a child who's blood sign is opposite their own (A-, A+). He is in the medical books. His life was almost ended, but he was born healthy, and the world would have been missing not only a wonderfully talented singer, but a gifted teacher as well. He is thankful. SO is his mother, his wife, his kids, his students, and those of us blessed to know him!

Twenty Giving Thanks

I was feeling very narcissistic with this month of blogging. Instead of feeling deep gratitude, I was feeling embarrassed. I have a lot to be thankful for. The world is full of people with almost NOTHING, and yet they are filled with joy and thankfulness.

I asked people to tell me what they are thankful for, and these are their responses.

1. My salvation! AMEN!
2. Ditto..along with my trainer Carlyn Angela Blevins.
3. Things that make me warm.
4. Seasons of rest.
5. My family
6. The feeling of euphoria that overcomes you when you have completed a job well done. It erases the stress and overwhelmed feelings you had leading up to the event.
7. That my back hurt on the Harley and I asked Keith to pull over, if we didn't we would've been involved in the fatality(Car wreck) last Sunday.
8. Vanilla Chai Tea on a cool fall day.
9. I'm thankful for lithium, a supportive family and warm kitties.
10. For amazing nurses who love on my daughter like she is family.
11. I am so thankful for music! That God moves in power in the things we enjoy.
12. Jesus died for my sins and gave my life value.
13. Dustin, and my education.
14. I am thankful for a supportive family and friends.
15. I am thankful for a job I love and that my family hasn't murdered me.
16. Blueberries. (YUM!)
17. For Aaron's gift of graciousness. And caffeine.
18. Pantyhose (I caught her getting ready for an evening out)
19. Family...friends...a warm fire on a cold day...grace.
20. God's grace and my precious daughters.

Thank you everyone for adding into the thankfulness train!
I will probably have more tomorrow, as not everyone has responded yet.

Random 19

I forgot a few things in some prior lists, and I have thought of a few other stray things that don't have a formal list to belong to.

No particular order...I am THANKFUL!

1. Strawberries (don't know how I forgot them on the fruit list)
2. Mangoes
3. Toast, mmmmmmm
4. Tea, herbal and fruity for me thank you.
5. Zucchini
6. Tomatoes
7. My washer and dryer, even if the dryer is broken right now, I am still thankful for it.
8. Information at our fingertips. If I need to know what to do to sooth a bee sting, or get a stain out of cotton, or Spencer needs to write a paper on the laws of Physics, we can do that, without leaving home. It's pretty impressive.
9. Well stocked grocery stores. Even if they run out of an advertised special, the shelves are still filled with food and products. Many countries do not have this luxury.
10. Blue skies after rain.
11. My friend's photography skills.
12. My friend that uses #11 and sends us beautiful photos of her family each year.
13. Ways of communicating with people far away. I love that I can have conversations in so many different ways. While I think real letter writing is a art form that is indeed being lost, I still relish the fact that I can converse with someone without a 2 week or more waiting period between letters.
14. Anti bacterial wipes and that type of stuff. We all have moments when we need them and soap and water isn't available.
15. French bread. With butter.
16. The physical ability to clean my house.
17. Being appreciated. We all need to hear that what we do is appreciated. Make sure you tell someone today.
18. My Redline stapler from friend #11. It used to be red, it's kinda orangeish/ light red now due to sun fading, but I still love it.
19. Post-it notes.

Eighteen.

I am very thankful for mentors, teachers, encouragers, other "moms" and the like in my life...
So thank you...

1. Mrs. Hawkins. Yes, I can call you by your first name now, sorta, feels weird. Thank you for taking me to Merl Norman for a makeup lesson with Heidi. Thank you for tolerating our slumber parties and shananigans.
2. DB, she taught me what classy looks like, and that just because you had money doesn't mean you treat people poorly.(TV always made it look like that)
3. Sondra Pepper. Always an encouragement to be ourselves and not care what others think. Thank you for answering God's call to interior Mexico, and taking us with you to open our eyes.
4. V.M. You endured countless sleep overs as well, and week long visits after my family moved away. I am blessed to still call your daughter friend, just as I always have my whole life. Thank you for the indulgence of Winchell's donuts on the way to church and the introduction into my life of Swiss cheese.
5. Mr. Slater. He was a great history teacher. He made it interesting, and kept a sense of humor about tests. I appreciated that, and I believe he sparked an interest in something that might have died completely had someone else taught it.
6. Mrs. M. You spoke my language and I understood math beautifully from you!
7. Mavis. Thank you for teaching me how to make cream puffs, and loving me after I no longer shared your name.
8. Shirley G. Thank you for teaching me to be generous, even when I didn't have much. Thank you for showing me what real hospitality looks like (it isn't all fancy you know). Thank you for teaching me how to make egg noodles on your kitchen table. Thank you for being a highlight while we were in AZ.
9. Chris S. You are a soothing balm to an ailing heart. You are kindness in a troubled world. Thank you.
10. Nancy W. You also taught me generosity when having nothing. Such a giving heart. Thank you for taking the time to teach me to can.
11.LL. Thank you for continually pushing for excellence and teaching ways to improve my voice. Thank you for believing in my family and supporting us.
12. Momma C. You don't know it but you inspire me to be a better wife. Your gentleness in certain situations is noble and I strive to improve.Thank you for being a good example.
13. The Babs. Generosity, knowledge, and just plain fun. Thank you for being rational and willing to listen when things got tough for us and not trying to solve our problems for us, but willing to help us seek the answers we needed. We hope someday to be like you both.
14. DeDe. You were such a joy to be around and showed me the ropes of being a Pastor's wife. THANK YOU!
15. Marty. You were an awesome youth pastor, and an awesome man of God. Your legacy still lives on.
16. CL. You are so very gifted to preach. I learn so much from you, not only in your sermons but by how you live so peacefully in this world.
17. BW. Also a gifted preacher. Inspiring, and unafraid of what people might think or say. Thank you for being up front and unashamed.
18. Jackie L. Thank you for sharing what you hear from God with us. With me. It truly changed my life, all for the better.

Who has made a difference in your life like this?

Seventeen Symptoms

Weird title right?
God instructs His people into living in His word, and abiding with Him, spending time with Him, having a relationship...the symptoms of doing these things?

1. Compassion
2. Kindness
3. Humility
4. Gentleness
5. Patience
6. Forgiveness (towards others and self)
7. Love
8. Peace loving
9. Considerate
10. Sincere
11. Merciful
12. Submissive. This is not a dirty word. Being submissive to someone that loves you as much as they love themselves works out for everyone involved. We all need to be submissive to someone in our lives, bosses, laws, those in authority over us. Those that struggle against authority always have it harder, it's like constantly climbing uphill, on your knees, on broken glass. Submissive does not equal slave, do not get the two confused.
13. Impartial
14. Peace maker
15. Goodness
16. Faithful
17. Joyful

For all these lovely "symptoms" I am very thankful. What a wonderful lists of attributes, what a picture of peaceful living among His people. Is this always the truth in every situation? Of course not, humans aren't perfect, and there are stumbling blocks...but I will keep building my relationship with God expecting more of these attributes.
What about you?

Sweet Sixteen

I am thankful for these special moments in my life.

1. Turning 13, because you know, I was a full teenager then, and knew everything.
2. Turning 16, because I could drive!
3. Turning 18, an adult! And I could vote, woohoo! I am very thankful to live in a country that has a voting system in place, that I can vote freely, and without fear of an armed gunman at the polls, or being turned away because I am a woman.
4. Having my twin daughters. At one point during labor I told the nurse or that I was tired and I would just like to go home please. She laughed and said that wasn't possible. It was for the best I suppose. I love my girls.
5. Graduating from college.
6. Getting my first real job, with benefits.
7. Being laid off from that job the day before I started my paid vacation. Now you might be thinking..."What?Why is she thankful for that?". Everything that happens gives you a chance to grow as a person. Experiences you have help form who you are. That experience helps me have compassion to those around me going through it now. It also taught me a few things so I am more prepared in case it ever happens again, even though I don't have that type of job or work in that industry any more.
8. Marrying Aaron. Boy, was that the smartest thing I ever did.
9. Having Spencer. That kid is such a blessing to us, a true gift.
10. Being asked into "Wives". It's really just a very small group of friends. We used to all live in one general area and we would meet once a month to gab, and figure stuff out about marriage, and drink iced tea. Three of us live elsewhere now, but we are all still really close friends. That connection, to those women, has helped me through a lot of difficult times in my life. We support each other, and it's wonderful.
11. Moving to Auburn. Getting here was hard, and frankly, awful. But once we were here it has been wonderful even when it was really hard, and I am thankful to be here.
12. Singing without fear. You know the saying, "Use it or lose it"? I thought I lost it. Then I started singing again, for real, and training, and now although I am still learning my instrument, I sing without the fear and worry like I used too. It's great!
13. My birthday a few years ago was 08-08-08, that was cool. Thankful for fun, simple things.
14. Learning Sozo prayer, and realizing it is a perfect match to my gifts.
15. Traveling. I think this needs it's own blog list. I am thankful for the freedom here to travel.
16. Accepting Jesus as my savior, knowing God, having a relationship, knowing I am a daughter of the creator of the universe. It's pretty special.

HALF!

15/30
Half way there!
In honor of halves...I am thankful

1. For my twins. Identical so therefore, something that was whole halved, into 2 wholes. Weird right? BUT MIRACULOUS AND AMAZING, so very thankful.
2. I love people with positive, half glass full attitudes. They are good people to hang around.
3. When I am thirsty, I am very thankful for a half glass of water.
4. 50% off sales....oh yes.
5. Buy one get one free sale...(sorta the same thing, but still)
6. My better half! ;)
7. "Half way there", on a hike, or during a long project, these words motivate you to keep going, keep trying!
8. Speaking of halfway there...I am , and this list is harder than I thought. Thankful I am half way done.
9. 50% reduction, say, in weight you have to lose, or a tumor size, that's a pretty big deal, we can all be thankful for those moments.
10. Half gallon, I am thankful when ice cream is still a FULL half gallon, not that 1.75 quarts stuff.
11. Half a stick of gum. It's just enough to freshen the breath, keep the throat moist, without getting in the way of singing.
12. Half notes. Where would we be without them?
13. "Half a notion", let's face it, if whoever was saying this phrase to you had a full notion, you would have been smacked a lot more. Seems to me the "half a notion" was usually connected to discipline of some sort, or possibly revengeful ideas. I am thankful they stopped at half.
14. Half Moon Bay, such splendor.
15. Half day! For school or now work, YAY!

What are you thankful for?
(Halved or not)

Fourteen Falls

I am so very thankful...

1. The sun is out today. The weather has been so lovely recently. Yes, we've had rain, but nothing ridiculous. Blue sky, crisp fall air, ...and...
2. Beautiful, exploding colors all around us. The leaves are just glorious right now. Orange, yellow, red! Such a delight to see.
3. I think I've said it before...PUMPKIN. Love the flavor of pumpkin, and now is when it shows up...yummy!
4. Thanksgiving. How could I not be thankful for a day set aside to be thankful?
5. Snuggle time. As temperatures drop the cuddling increases, without it being a sticky unpleasant experience like it is during the heat of summer...
6. It's not yet winter. Not super hot, not super cold. Crisp sure, I can handle that! Love it in fact! Because...
7. Jeans, sweaters/sweatshirts, boots! I am thankful when I get to wear these items without melting.
8. Apples. We live in an apple area, so fresh from the tree is a wonderful experience. It also leads to...
9. Apple butter, apple sauce...made fresh and preserved in my kitchen.
10. Crunching leaves. Once the spectacular show is over and the leaves start fluttering to the ground , which is also lovely, it's crunching time. It brings out the little kid in me(which isn't hard to do actually). I can't walk by a pile and not scuffle through them. It brings me silly joy and I am thankful!
11. Warm foods. Now the thought of soup, stew, and hearty heavier pasta dishes sound fabulous instead of heavy and too hot, like they do in summer.
12. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....but it isn't Christmas yet....it's like an alarm clock going off with enough time for a snooze button. I am thankful I still have time to purchase things slowly, and plan things out.
13. Increased hours at work. I know that seems weird to a few of you. My paid job is only part time. Sometimes(always...) we need a little boost to our budget. My job increases this time of year do to some major events coming up...so it all works out! I am thankful.
14. Less yard work. Our yard is shutting itself down, which means less yard work over all. Sure, we will have some leaves to tend to...but that's okay, that can be fun.

What are you thankful for regarding FALL?

The Lucky Thirteen

Today is Sunday.
I love Sundays! I am thankful for Sundays!
Here's why...

1. Set aside for God.
2. I get to be with people who love God.
3. I get to sing praises to Him with other people!
4. I get to learn more about Him!
5. FELLOWSHIP.
6. I am able to pray for others to help them breakthrough, or overcome, or pray with them for healing or peace. I can do this any day of course, but I do this personally with people on Sundays, it's wonderful.
7. Family time.
8. In Fall and winter...football if we are lucky.
9. During warm months hang out time.
10.Hear God's miracles that He has been doing for people throughout the week.
11. No school, no to do list (when we can manage it).
12. Sunday afternoon naps. I've heard of these, I had one once, it was lovely.
13. Comics. I know it seems silly, but I love the colorful comics on Sundays.

Tantalizing Twelve

It's the weekend, I am thankful for a break from a hectic and busy work week. I am also thankful for sweet, wonderful, no additives, natural, God designed fruit!

No particular order:

1. Manderins, their season is upon us any day where I live, and there are many orchards around here, YAY!
2. Kiwi, a fun to say, sweet little fruit.
3. Starfruit, because it really dresses up a plate or fruit platter.
4. Watermelon, aaaah, the taste of summer refreshment.
5. Peaches, fresh off our tress, pretty spectacular.
6. Plums, red ones to be specific. I am not a big fan of the black ones with the white insides.
7. Pluots, plums and apricots mixed together? How can you go wrong?
8. Apricots. Sadly our tree is an every-other year tree, so next year I expect a bumper crop!
9. Cherries.
10. Grapes, especially seedless reds, or globes.
11. Honeydew
12. Tomatoes. Technically a fruit. I do love them so.

Honorable mention (or for those not accepting tomato...and alternative): Bananas, although I can no longer consume them, I do still love them.

What's your favorite fruit?

ElevenElevenEleven

11-11-11
It looks so nice and tidy.

Today's list is all about serving. Sometimes I watch others around me just keep giving of themselves and I am amazed. We can all learn something from people like that.

1. For the men and women that have served this country so selflessly. Thank you

2. For the families of those in the service. They stand strong as their loved ones leave for months, and sometimes never to return. They have a strength that is amazing, thank you.

3. For those still praying for our nation. Standing in the gap for those that won't. Thank you.

4. For those that remember and still recognize that this country was founded on Christian principles. Am I proud of everything people have done in this country? Of course not. But what country can stand up and be blameless, who is perfect? No one. Thank for believing our foundation still matters.

5. For those that sacrifice their lives to serve God. They give up the notion people have created of "the American Dream" to make sure others see Heaven. Thank you.

6. For those that serve humbly behind the scenes. They come early and stay late and do not boast or moan, they are amazing. Thank you.

7. For those willing to teach. God makes it clear that teachers will be held more accountable. Thank you for stepping up.

8. For those that help the invisible, the undesirable, the "least of these". Your diligence, your compassion and dedication is anointed and to be respected. Thank you.

9. For those willing to do the dirty jobs in life. Humility is beautiful. Thank you.

10.For those that do without being asked, for those that are willing to say yes when others flee, for those willing to give up something for the greater good. Thank you.

11. For the ultimate sacrifice for all people, worldwide, for all time. Jesus. Died, His blood poured out like a sacrifice of old, for one purpose, for you to be able to re-connect with your heavenly Father, to have a real relationship with your creator. Cleansed free of all sin, all past, everything. It's true freedom. Thank you Lord for that.

Ten Tasty Treats

Michelle C I am giving you fair warning...this might not be a post for you to read today!

While I try to avoid such foods, and we all know that statistics of such things, I still am very thankful for these item's existence.
I know, it seems shallow to be thankful for such things. But I am thankful I was able to try these in my life. They taste good, things that taste good are enjoyable, I think that is a good thing. SO therefore, I am thankful.

1. Pumpkin pie.
2. Scones, especially pumpkin, or lemon, or cranberry.
3. Lemon Crunch Cake, I remember this from childhood. I believe it's chilled and something about the glaze frosting gets crunchy on top. IT'S SO GOOD.
4. Cream puffs. I recently had a little one with a hint of Strawberry in it, delightful.
5. Fresh, home made, ice cream. I like many flavors.
6. My mom's sugar cookies. Not just ANY sugar cookies...my mom's.
7. Oatmeal drop cookies. I love these because they are wheat free, making it possible to share them with friends that can not eat wheat.
8. Lemon Meringue, again, my favorite is my mom's, it's so good.
9. My Mom's cheesecake too. I am not a huge fan of the New York Style cheesecake, to thick, or dryish or something. My mom's is smooth and creamy and wonderful.
10. I think I better just be thankful for my mom right here.

What are your favorite treats?
And yes...you did notice that I am not a huge fan of chocolate things. Never have been. I do love nice piece of chocolate now and then, but other than brownies I am not a big chocolate dessert kind of gal. Saves more for the rest of you that are...

It Has Arrived

This man worked very, very hard making beautiful music to honor the Lord, and to usher in His presence.
There were many, many trials along the way. Hissing, crackling, equipment problems. Some needing monetary fixes, some needing hours and hours of extra time designated to the project. But finally, one day (yesterday) this truck appeared in our driveway.

I find it appropriate that the sun cascading through the trees makes the truck hard to see...it was as if angels were singing and the glory was coming from heaven. In the truck and handed to us was a box filled with these:
This is a day of great gratitude!
THANKFUL!
1. This album is finally here!
2. It is anointed, thank you Lord for meeting my husband in this music.
3. It is to be shared. Those that have already heard it and experienced it, LOVE IT!
4. Funding came through in just the right amount to create this album.
5. Sales from this one will pay for the next one, due by Christmas...
6. which is completely different, "Get Your Praise On" music!
7. My husband is diverse and wonderfully gifted.
8. I am thankful we make a good team.
9. I am so very grateful for those that prayed with us and for us to get this album completed! It took a lot of prayer, and work, but it is so worth it.

Thankful Tuesday, 11811

Thankful to God for His timing, grace, mercy and love towards us.....

1. For extra work, that was offered to me today. Just when we needed it.
2. Many years ago during a sudden hard hail storm on the freeway everyone lost control of their vehicles, including the car I was a passenger in. The last thing I remember was looking out my window at the front of a semi truck coming right at me. The next thing I knew we were parked, neatly, at the side of the road. The driver looked at me and said, "How did we get here?". As we witnessed cars and trucks slamming into each other, completely out of control due to the ice we and our combined three little girls in the back seat and her then unborn child all survived because of God's intervention.
3. Last week extra work came in for my husband, just when we needed it, and then the pay for that project grew, which is huge blessing.
4. My friends' (yes, plural) tumors and suspicious masses were all benign.
5. Another friend's one year check up after fighting cancer showed "no cancer found"!
6. My student loan payment request was approved and has been lowered, this is a huge deal. I know God will provide the money to pay it.
7. My niece is still pregnant, this is a big praise, please pray for her , her husband, and their wee baby boy. There are medical issues and we just need him to grow big enough before he makes his appearance.
8. I am thankful for the miracles and breakthroughs I get to witness, or that people share with me. When God moves it is amazing. We don't always understand why things happen, especially when they are hard or sad things, but His ultimate plan is for good. I am thankful.

Seven

I am so very thankful...

1. That the 7 yards of "compost" that I helped a friend move with shovels and a wheelbarrow wasn't 8 or 9 yards. Whew.
2. That said friend had desserts from a fabulous German bakery, amazing cream puffs.
3. She also made chicken and waffles, yum.
4. The rain stayed away, that would have made this job so much harder.
5. Tons of laughter ensued while shoveling "poo". Seriously, it was hilarious. Nothing makes hard, stressful work (she had to have this weird project done by today for her HOA!!), go faster than a good friend and laughter! A spoon full of sugar and all that.
6. I do not live in a HOA neighborhood, on purpose and with good reason. I am truly thankful for this.
7. And finally, I am thankful I was able-bodied enough to help her in the first place.

Nothing lifts the human soul and spirit like gratitude and helping others! Try serving, try it! You were created to be helpful and productive, it really works!

Six on Sunday

I am thankful for...

Syndication, otherwise I couldn't be thankful for these shows:

1. The Courtship Of Eddie's Father. (1969-1972)In researching this today I found out that there is an original book and movie from which this TV series was based. I was too young when this show aired originally, but was always delighted to watch it during school vacations. My favorite part of the show was when they had their final conversation, always dubbed over the father and son duo doing something like walking on the beach or playing at the park. The bond between them shown strong. I loved that.

2. The Andy Griffith Show.(1960-1968) What a fascinating cast of characters. From the charm and care provider found in Aunt Bee to curious Opie and stead fast Andy. Throw in the ridiculousness of Deputy Barney Fife...and well, it is just good fun. I learned things turn out in the end when you stick with your family and work it out.

3. Gentle Ben,(1967-1969) I just found out this is from an original book as well published in 1965, the series came along a couple years later (still before I was born). It is the adventures of the young son of a game warden and his pet black bear in the Florida Everglades. They often rode around in an airboat or a swamp buggy, and as a kid I loved that part of the show just as much as the parts with the giant black bear and the dolphins. I learned you can go really fast with the right equipment, and you don't always have to kill something just because it's a trouble maker (good stuff I tell you!).

4. Gilligan's Island.(1964-1967) I know it was campy, I know it was ridiculous, but I still enjoyed that show! I learned to never give up! Keep trying! And you can make all sorts of things from coconuts and a little bamboo.I bet McGyver watched this show.

5. The Brady Bunch. (1969-1974)Although my family was not blended I was the youngest of many, so I understood Cindy. I understood feeling over looked, or left out because you're too young. I probably changed who I identified with as I grew older. The episodes weren't in order (being all re-runs) so this changed around as time went on. I think I was mildly shocked when family situations couldn't be solved in a few moments of gentle conversation and explanations. I never gave up hoping Sam would ask Alice to marry him. I learned to not mess with voodoo or curses and to stick close to your family while at the Grand Canyon. Also, if something was missing, check the doghouse.

6. Here's where it gets tricky, I have more than 6! Should it be I Love Lucy? The Dick Van Dyke show? Little House? Or ssssshhhhhhh "Love American Style" sssshhhhh, which I am sure if my parents had known I watched it would have banned me from watching it. A lot went over my head, until years later I caught an episode and was shocked! Oh well. Back to the innocence I go....
I Love Lucy.(1951-1957) For the sheer brilliance of comedic timing and true situational comedy. Plus I loved Fred and Ethel too. Things I learned: If you want to be in the show, you better really know how to sing. Don't overstuff the oven with bread dough, don't have stars sign grapefruit, don't get into a jealous fight right before your big operetta opens, and always pay your set rental bills.

Seems like good things to know to me. I am thankful I learned them early.

Saturated Saturday

So thankful...
1. For rain.
2. Snow
3. Sleet
4. Dead of night... wait. Wrong list.
Ahem...
3. Rivers
4. Lakes
5. Oceans

Where would we be without water? The cycle of evaporation into rain, ending with fresh spring water (or water that can be purified) is amazing. Aaron and I love being near water, on it, in it...or just looking at it. It rained a couple days ago, and will again maybe today. Snow was reported nearby as well. Precipitation cleans the air, the leaves, the houses and my car. It waters the earth and all that grows. I know soon we will start our rainy season, and eventually I may tire of being damp all the time. I will still appreciate rain and bodies of water. I appreciate that they exist. They represent life. And life is good.

Four For Friday

4 4 4 or...Four For Four:

Today is an easy list. I am thankful for my immediate family.(From oldest to youngest)
1. Aaron
2. Alyssa (That 18 minute head start counts)
3. Jenelle
4. Spencer

Each one has changed my life for the better. Each one comes with unique challenges as well. Which contrary to general beliefs is not a bad thing. We are all on a journey, traveling, learning, and hopefully growing. There would be a big hole if any of them were missing from our family. I am thankful for them all.

Thouroughly Thankful Thursday,Three

Because 3, is a magic number...

I am very thankful for the Trinity.

1.Father
2.Son
3.Holy Spirit

Like three parts of an egg, all different yet all together one whole thing.

God created all. Gave people free will, wanting them to crave time with him,a relationship with Him. He gave them the choice, free will. People blew it.
God gave them ways to still have a relationship with Him, if they so chose. Only a few were really, really good at it. Eventually He came down himself, Jesus, his son, who paid the price for all humanity past, present and future and re-connected everyone that so chooses to Father God. Now Jesus couldn't stay here forever, so when he left earth The Comforter, The Holy Spirit, came in His place to help us, guide us.

Weak In the Knees Wednesday

I am so very thankful for:
1.
Here's the deal, I may bring this man up more than once, or twice. I will qualify why each time, and it will probably be something specific. I am in the refiner's fire right now, and currently this wonderful, loving, gentle man, is a huge factor in me not running away from the challenge of growth. It doesn't feel good here, but I know it will be worth it.

2. God's amazing grace.

I don't know about you, but I mess up, a lot. I may not be out murdering anyone, but I do fall short of the glory of God. I may try to model my life more like Jesus, but whew, not quite there yet. With this in mind, I am EVER SO THANKFUL for God's wonderful, and free, grace. I try harder, and will continue to try because I love God, and He first loved me...and I know that He loves me even when I mess up. Even when I mess up BIG. There is no mess up so big that Jesus' brutal death on the cross can't clean it up, that took care of it all. I may not deserve the grace, but I have it, as do you for the asking. I am thankful. Are you?

Thankful Tuesday, and day One

Today is November 1st.
It's the kickoff of NaBloPoMo.
That's right, National Blog every day of the Month Month, or something like that.
Last year I wrote things I was thankful for everyday of the month, and increased the number of things as the days grew, 2 things on the 2nd, 14 things on the 14th, and 30 on the 30th. It was challenging to not repeat myself, but truly, we all have that many things, or people , to be thankful for. I haven't decided what to do this year...theme or no theme. So here is today's item...just in case I choose to do it again like last year.
 I am thankful for...

1. A creative mind.

What are you thankful for?
