Ten on Tuesday, When the going gets tough.

Something slightly traumatic happened this week.
Here is a list of things I am thankful for when the going gets tough:

1. An awesome God that hears our cries for help and comfort.
2. An amazing man, my husband, with a gentle heart.
3. Friends, that will pray, that will drive over to hug you.
4. Technology, to keep informed.
5. The written word and promises of God.
6. Praise Music, worshiping can lift you right out of depression, or stress.
7. Working for people that will pray for me and my family, at work...
8. Distractions, like canning something wonderful for Christmas presents.
9. Sleep, deep, needed sleep.
10. Answers to those prayers.

What are you thankful for?

You Look Away For One Minute...

Don't turn your back on a zucchini.....or a yellow squash, or apparently a cucumber either.

The garden is doing well.
Growing lots of tall lovely grass.....I mean veggies.
The gopher ultimately ate my basil, but I re planted in a pot. It also ate all of my beans and one of my pickling cucumber plants as well. Something has been nibbling my tomato plant as well, from over the fence...maybe deer. BUT, as you can see we are indeed harvesting food. It supposed to get hot again this week, I am hoping that ripens the tomatoes.

In other yard news two limbs broke off my peach tree. It was super sad. One branch is still connected and therefore is indeed ripening the GIANT peaches. The other, well,I am planning to cut a few open and see if they can be salvaged in any way at all. Sadly I think it's a lost cause, as are all of my grapes. Turns out our very long , super wet winter followed by an oddly mild summer is a the PERFECT combination for grape fungus. Yeah, great. Unfortunately there aren't many ways to get rid of it or save the crop. This is very sad. We looked forward to eating them and making jelly. Perhaps another year.

Off to freeze squash.

6th Grader

First day of 6th grade.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

I was sitting contemplating the success of certain linking blog subjects, like Works For Me Wednesday. I think it's brilliant, and am thankful someone developed that. I have blog friends because of this kind of blogging.

People come and go off the thankful blog train.

I wonder, if I made a linking blog day where people vented and complained if it would be a soaring (and sad) success. People are so quick to speak everything that they think is wrong or lacking in their life, instead of remembering everything that is good and right. I am not perfect in that either, but I don't live in that place anymore.

Life is challenging.
Controlling your mouth is even more challenging, but change your verbal assault to positive, encouraging, uplifting and edifying and you will change your life.

Ten On Tuesday, "The Cabin"

I am currently not home.
I am in a wonderful place that we lovingly call "The Cabin".

Ten things I am thankful for regarding "The Cabin"

1. Naps in the hammock.
2. Reading, reading, reading.
3. Whispering breezes through the pines.
4. Babbling cold streams.
5. Fresh air.
6. Cooler tempuratures.
7. No Cell phones, computers, or electronics.
8. Family time, games, lingering meals and conversations.
9. Wonderful spring water.
10. Rest. Relaxation. Refreshing. Renewal. Restoration.

I am ever so thankful also for a flexible job that allows me the freedom to re arrange my schedule so this trip was possible.

What are you thankful for?

LOUD!

Due to someone mis-scheduling themselves Aaron and I were given, very generously I might add, tickets to a Hillsong concert.

Now, we don't love every song they do, and we have opinions about formula Christian music....but we also love many of their songs, and needed a break from routine and to be in the audience instead of on stage.

It was a rocking, kickin, loud concert. The fabric I was wearing was vibrating with the bass and drums(which I LOVE). Thankfully, being who I am, and doing what I do, I had earplugs with me for the rowdy songs.

What's that you just thought to yourself? ..."If it's too loud you're too old".
On the contrary, 'If it's too loud you'll lose hearing and seem old before your time"
I can't sing if I can't hear, so I protect my hearing.

Back to the concert. We didn't know all the songs, but it was fun and the lighting was fabulous! They engaged the audience and fed off the energy in the room.

They only had one more concert and then they are going home to Australia, South Africa and Sweden. I highly suggest them next time they are around.

A big thanks to HK for sharing those tickets with us.

Swirling High Vilocity Thought

I have so much to share with you, my 3 readers.
My brain is spinning at un heard of speeds lately.
I do NOT have ADHD or anything like it.

Possibility and hope are mighty things.
It opens up ones mind, and heart and , well brain waves. Finding your God chosen path in a sea of possibility is what's hard, but totally worth it.

The problem is, I can't seem to focus long enough to write about just one thing, so then I write about nothing instead.

Nothing is boring.
Who wants to read nothing?
I don't.

I am working on the antidote of nothingness.
I'll let you know how that's going soon, very, very soon.
