Mother's Day Sentiments....???

On Mother's day most mom's get pretty cards with lovely prose, perhaps gaggy, perhaps not. Some, including me, get home made cards made by young hands eager to please you with their hand drawn flowers and smiling suns.

And then there's the other cards I got.

Having two twenty year olds, that are very, how should I put this? "Creative" makes for an interesting Mother's Day Card experience.

The following poem was written for me:

My mom and me are the best of friends
When we hang out I wish it'd never end
You married a black guy
So our family could be more fly
You make me dinner after school
And I usually like it, so that's pretty cool
We go shopping and look for shoes
Then we fight and we all lose
We will be besties until you die
and when that happens I'll MOST LIKELY cry
Let's Dance
(followed by a stick figure drawing of us dancing)

On my other card I was thanked for "not hitting the crack pipe"...isn't that sweet? They are thanking me for not being a drug addict mom. Aaaahhhh, it just warms my heart. :D

I hope your mother's day was filled with warm and loving sentiment from your kids as well...or if you aren't a mom that you were able to thank your own mom for whatever reason you can come up with....

I'm Serious This Time

That's our friend Dave, and his famous Bobcat....
I am planning a garden, a big one, because this year? I am serious, I want to eat fresh as fresh can be as much as possible, for as long as possible. Also, now that I have been introduced to the fine art of canning, I will be making sure my bounty is enjoyed throughout the next year . As long as God smiles on my garden and we actually have a crop. Bugs already got my apricots, even before they really had a chance. I will take advise on how to fight pests WITHOUT insecticides, because I am so very sensitive to them.
This is just a small portion of my over-all yard, perhaps next year I will grow wheat or something crazy!

If you squint a little you can see Dave on the bobcat outside the window of the music studio...

Black gold....

We have to delay planting, which I know, fully makes us late by a few weeks, but we must attend a family wedding and I don't want my plants to die while I am gone. In the mean time I need to rototil and get the fence up, any one want to help?

Yeah, if you need me I'll be playing in the dirt.
