Ten On Tuesday, Fabulous F

Ten things I am thankful for, no particular order:

1. Fabulous. I LOVE this word. I use it a lot, I admit. The gum commercial made it worse, or better depending on who you are.
2. Freedom. We have a lot of it currently in this country. I am thankful for those that help keep it.
3. Fruit. Good God almighty I thank you for this amazingly fabulous creation.
4. Facebook. I know, lame thing to be thankful for, but it really has helped me keep friendships strong, and find people I had lost contact with for years.Plus no skanky ads like that other site.
5. Friendships, long lasting, true, to the core. I have several of these, and they are all very important to me. We may have seasons with more contact, or more leaning on each other, but they are all etched into my heart and I love them all dearly.
6. French fries. A rare and tasty treat.
7. FOBs, Unlock your car with a push of a button? BRILLIANT!
8. Fransisco, that's fun to say.
9. Freezers, how different would our world be without them? Not to mention it's where the ice cream is stored.
10. Faith. Deeply rooted, unwavering.

Clean house of complaining, replace it with thankfulness, see what an incredible difference it can make.

With Gratitude and Mustaches.

It's been a rough start to this year. I know it's nearly the end of February, but we still have 10 months to go. I look forward to the rest of the year with great hope. But these first two months had some rough spots. Between doubling electric bills, low gig amount and then, well then there is some truly personal stuff going on.

And that's all I can say about that.

I did share with a couple of very close friends.
That helped, a lot.
What they said back helped, a lot.

And when I got our mail on Saturday there was a package inside the box.
OOoooo goody!

Who it was addressed to gave away who it was from, nearly she alone calls us that. But the return address was someone else, somewhere else. I knew immediately. Someone had been on Etsy. YAY!

This is what we received

They are crayons, aren't they amazing?

Here is who sent me such a sweet present.

Thank you Bethany!

Bogey Has Spoken

Karen over at Planes, Trains and Automobiles lovingly gave me this:

"This award means you're really going places, Baby.
You'll still be blogging about your great adventures
10 years from now, and I'll still be reading them."

In order to accept this award, I first have to express
where I think my life will be in 10 years....

Here's the thing.
I have written an entire essay on lost dreams, and what living under poverty or stress can do to ones dreams. I didn't write it because it was a school project, or I researched other people, I wrote it because I realized what was stolen from me....

So, I've been working on getting them back.
But I am not ready to share yet. I am going to savor them a little bit.

But here instead are some basic facts:

My daughters will be 30. I hope and pray they are both happy, in a life path they truly love.
Spencer will be 19, hopefully fully engulfed in college.
I might be a grandma by then....then again, maybe not.
By this time I plan on touring or attending more gigs with Aaron, as well as be in more gigs since the kids will be grown.
I will be over 50. Weird.

Maybe I will be a nurse, or a PA, or a bakery owner.

I will still be writing.

SO, now it's other people's turns:
Troy, Seasons Of My Life
Misty, Rainy Day In May
Bethany, Falling Out Of The Wardrobe
Heather, Drivel and Whatnot
Deanne, Fragile Flower
Lori, Living In A Fishbowl
Dena, Happily Ever After
Jenna, Cranberry Corner
Ginny, Empty Nest, Full Life. Fishbowl's mom :)

All of these ladies are worth a gander.

Ten On Tuesday, E again.

Ten things I am thankful for, no particular order.

1. Entertainment. We are in this industry, so it is important to me. :)
2. Eggs. Cheap protein. And frankly, they bind things together in cooking and especially baking like nothing else can, remarkable stuff.
3. Elation. What a great feeling.
4. Edison.
5. Edamame, with a little salt, steamed just right, yum.
6. Envelope....especially if it is card size with my name on it.
7. Elegance. We could all use a little more class now and then.
8. E...as in the character Edna Mose in The Incredibles. Brilliant...and based on:
9. Edith Head, costume designer DIVA, SUPERSTAR, in Hollywood for YEARS.
10.Eternity. I know where I'll be, do you?

“Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone.”

I Know Where I'll Be

Nothing says love more than your musically gifted man singing love songs just to you, from stage, in a microphone, in a hopefully crowded and lively room.

Ten On Tuesday, Cc

Things I am thankful for beginning with the letter C, no particular order:

1. My name. Please understand, this is a great big deal for me. Sometime in elementary school I decided that I really didn't like my name. I wished it was Carolina, or Caroline, but it wasn't. It was plain, and not like many of my friends, with flowing girlie names, (Stephanie, Christine, Kristine). I've gotten over it. My name means "Song of joy"...and I think it is fitting. The farther I step up to the microphone to use my gift, the more joy I have. I was named well. Thank you mom and dad.
2. Conundrum: 1: a riddle whose answer is or involves a pun
2 a : a question or problem having only a conjectural answer b : an intricate and difficult problem. Fabulous word. Learn it, use it this week.
3. Cable. I miss DSL high speed unlimited band width use internet.
4. Cancellation. As in a miraculous cancellation of my student loan debt. (Hey, it could happen...right?)
5. Canapes, little delightful mouthfuls of delicious food. What could be better?
6. Crepes....yeah, they are really good too.
7. Capitalism. You heard me. It allows people to create and dream and build something. It creates money that then flows into the economy, instead of sucking it out. I am very against greed and money worshiping, and I agree with helping those in need, but the money needs to be created somewhere...
8. Cellos , mellow, smooth, soulful.
9. Cell phones. I have a love hate relationship with them. Really, they are a piece of technology that is amazing and oh so useful. I found an old phone this week. Before color screens, before texting, before photo taking abilities...it's not very old. I just hate them when I see people driving stupidly because of them OR when someone you are talking to suddenly opens their phone and texts someone else...in essence turning and having a conversation with someone else mid sentence...rude. So I am thankful for cell phones, just not the lack of manners that goes with them.
10. Crayons. They are one of the first ways a child gets to create and experience art. They are inexpensive and can deliver splendid results. A simple joy.

Life can be a dark and sad place sometimes.
Remember the good, remember what there is around you and start being thankful for it. A spirit of thankfulness can not stay in the gloom long.

What are you thankful for?
