Oh the Silliness.

Since Ten on Tuesday was on silly things that make you happy I thought I'd share this today. My daughters introduced it to me today, and frankly it made me giggle, and I am not even a Harry Potter fan!

Silly Ten On Tuesday

(Silly)Things that make me happy, and I am truly thankful for, because being happy is a good thing...

1. Bendy straws.
2. Coasters at resturants. I don't like wet tables.
3. Little plastic swords or monkeys on a drink.
4. Superbowl commercials...sometimes.
5. Rice Krispie Treats, oh my, they make me so happy.
6. Booths, cozy, comfy, with a sense of protection and privacy.
7. Nachos
8. People driving in Halloween costumes, as long as they are not too creepy.
9. Weird Al
10. Pipe cleaners (You saw this one coming, right?)

Join me! What silly little things make you happy?

Tomorrow's Ten On Tuesday List

Tomorrow is Ten on Tuesday.
I personally choose to always make my lists about being thankful. A grateful heart is healthy, and leads to a happier life in general.

So tomorrow,
Ten things that you are thankful for because they make you happy...wait, that's too easy
Ten SILLY (or odd) things that make you happy.

Perhaps it's when all you DVD's are alphabatized, or maybe when they are shelved according to color(smart if you are selling a house). Perhaps it's when a clown drives by on the freeway, I mean someone dressed as a clown, not acting like one.
I think you get the idea. These will be things that makes us, well, us!
Good luck, see you tomorrow.

In The Hay Stack

"Spencer, try spelling "needle" again"

"Dude, you got it wrong on the first test too. Needle has never had two d's in it, nor shall it ever"

"Well, Obama is president now, you never know."

We are 0-2.
This makes me sad, this makes me worried.
Will these boys ever start really listening to the coach? Will they start getting this whole basketball thing at all? Will they remember basic rules and plays?
Will that one kid pick up his feet while he runs...ever?

I am careful about what I say, who I say it to, and especially what I yell, I want them to listen to their coach, but that's a big part of their problem, they aren't listening at all. This is 3rd grade boys we are talking about, not pro-ball. We cheer for amazing plays, even on the other team, these are 8 year olds, they deserve a good cheer.

I over heard the ref saying that during the first game of the day a dad, followed by his wife came onto the court to have a "chat" with him regarding calling a segment early ( each 20 minute half is broken into 4 segments when you switch players, fair for all). Apparently they weren't happy with him calling the segment a few seconds early and not letting their kid play those last seconds (again, 3rd graders). I guess maybe they thought their kid was going to pull off some miracle. They are lucky they didn't get kicked out of the game completely (saw that during one of my girls softball games).

I do have good news in this: Spencer improved. His performance today was much improved from last week. He guarded his man better (Alyssa made him chase her all over the yard to practice), He shot better, he paid attention better, and he actually went in to try and get the ball during rebounds, Way to Improve SPENCER!

4th of 4th, Doubled Up

I've been tagged by Mrs. Doozleberry
I haven't participated in Fro Me To You lately...luckily, I can do both with just one photo!

Here are the rules:

1) Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer
2) Select the 4th picture in the folder
3) Explain the picture
4) Tag 4 people to do the same

My husband is a musician, this is Prophecy, a jazz/Rb band he was (is) in last year. It was a fun gig, lots of dancing, in a dive, with a plethora of drunk people by the end of the night, yeah, good times.. AND everyone's eye's are shut.

I tag Thany of Falling Out Of The Wardrobe, Missy Shell of Snow Comes Up, Marky of Wheat Free Clan, and Missy of RainyDay in May

And for more fun with bad photography visit We Are That Family!

I'll Share.

When you have something , share it, and you will be doubly blessed.

That's it. That sentence sums up what I am learning, and it works for me.

Oh, you want an explanation? Fine...
Case #1
Our car needed a part, and to be fixed. Unfortunatly for us if we had waltzed into a dealership or mechanics place it would have been to the tune of $1500++. Enter in a family, his mechanical skills and his generous heart. He works by day for Lexus, but then, helps others in need with those same skills. We scraped money together to buy the part, he found cheaper ways for us to buy it, and then he fixed it for us. We owe him dinner (or a donation to the "fatten Randy up fund" as he called it). This act of kindness (which wasn't the first) blessed us immensely.

Case #2
A family in our church is currently in financial trouble, even more so than us now that we have regular employment. Her husband's career, like many others, is based in construction. Whenever I would get extra food or goods given to me, I would spread it out with her, and a single mom I know. Both these women have done the same for us. This family's generosity is amazing, and it actually bewildered me at first, "How can you give when you barely have anything?".
God showed me to loosen my grip on even the little I had, and share it.
(We tithe on everything ...this isn't about money)

We were given a gift card at the Holidays for a grocery store, this was a big deal for us. We actually purchased lamb and the special trimmings for a Christmas Eve dinner. As I sang and participated in the two Christmas Eve services certain individuals crossed my path in such a way that I knew I needed to invite them over, and let them share in this rare meal with us. It meant no left overs for us, but it also meant that 3 single people, with no family to be with, were embraced and joined our family that night. It was a great meal, great fun, and I am going to do it again next year. We will find those that would otherwise be alone and lonely, and invite them in. Even if we eat Top Ramen, we will share what we have.

It works for me
What works for you? What do you have that you can share. Might be material objects, might be money, or it might simply be a skill. Fixing things, homearts, teaching work skills, sharing a meal, anything really.

HEY! Holy Hot Hotcakes!!

Well, we've made it full circle now, back to when I first started linking. So I am going to start new lists now, but if you are still working your alphabet please don't give up! Being thankful heals you. Everyone can use some healing.

So, in honor of the circle I have made I present a list of ten things I am thankful for, random letters called out from family members not knowing what it was for. Daughter A wanted me to use the Russian alphabet, but settled for "t" only if I did it in Spanish.

1. Tienda, store in Spanish.
2. Socks, I am thankful we have socks and not woolen stockings.
3. Quatum Leap, I really liked that show, and it employed people from my High School in various roles.
4. Optimus Prime
5. Fact finding, need a fact? Ask me, if I can't find it out, I'll stick Thany on the case! I like hunting down information...I should get a job doing that again.
6. Greek yogurt
7. Meal time, when we are all together and in good moods.
8. Baklava
9. Jesus

Won't you join me in a little thankfulness?!

Warms My Heart, and Toes

Down is a wonderful thing. Holds heat, keeps you toasty in a cold room. Only one problem, when you crawl into bed already chilled it takes a long time to warm up and do it's thing.

Enter my fabulous, wonderful, loving husband.

The last few days I have been chilled, which is very weird for me, I usually am not a cold person. The last two nights upon coming to bed I have discovered my husband on my side of the bed...pre-warming it for me. I crawl into warmth and comfort and he moves over into the cold region.

He is amazing and kind and I love him.

Pre-warm your spouses side of the bed, or perhaps warm up their towels in the dryer as they shower, or make their lunch for them (I make his lunch and he really appreciates it). Little gestures go a long long way.
Works for me.

A glimpse of what my honey does. Yes, he is playing both the bass and the keyboard, he's awesome that way.
